In Act 3, events happen that cause many of the characters to feel betrayed. Characters don't follow orders as they usually do, they act the opposite in the way that is expected, some regret hidden actions of past acts, and others change their beliefs to the shock of a few. The events in this act shock these characters because the changes in behavior are deadly and life altering. Think about what happens in this act, and choose a character from the list below. Writing from that character's point of view (using first person pronouns like I, me, my, etc.), imagine you just witnessed the shocking events and heard the statements spoken that have betrayed you. What do you think? How do you feel? What changes are occurring in your life because of this and how will it effect your future. Focus on how important this character was to you, and how you feel about his/her betrayal. What was your relationship like with his character before this event/discussion, and how is it now forever altered? Give specific details about your history with this character as you deal with this betrayal.

For example, if I am Romeo, this is what I could write:
He's dead...Mercutio is dead and I just sat back and let it happen. I watched, we all watched as he and Tybalt fought, and we thought he was joking. That's Mercutio. He always joked about everything. He even told us it was just a scratch, so why wouldn't we believe him. I know he liked to fight, but every time he did, there was a sense of sarcasm so no one ever took him seriously. But there have been some dark days for Mercutio lately too. When we were going to the Capulet's house, he got so angry talking about dreams and this hatred towards women was shocking. If he wasn't mad, he was sarcastic. After Tybalt left, he was sarcastic which is why I was so confused when Mercutio started yelling at me and my family, cursing us and the fighting between my family and the Capulets. Then he falls over dead, and Tybalt walks away? Tybalt, the man who wants to fight with me, killed my best friend. What a hound! He has no business fighting Mercutio if he is mad at me, and now he walks around alive?! Oh no he won't, not if I have anything to say about it. (and it would continue in this manner)
